My nutrition journey

Welcome! My name is Eleni and I’m on a mission to help people recover from chronic dieting and cultivate a healthy, intuitive relationship with food.

I am a Certified Nutrition & Dietetics Technician with an internship on clinical nutrition. Ever since the beginning of my studies in the nutrition field I’ve been trying to approach the subject of nutrition in a different way. One that would not involve restrictive diets, numbers on a scale, extreme limitations, and an obsessive focus on body image.

This wasn’t an “a-ha moment” in my nutrition journey. Like so many women, I spent my younger years under the influence of diet mentality. I had repeatedly found myself caught up in the endless cycle of restriction and overeating, never feeling truly healthy or at peace with my body. I had reached a point where I felt completely disconnected from my body’s hunger and fullness cues and even the thought of another diet would instantly make me miserable.

My instinctive approach towards intuitive eating and mindfulness completely transformed my relationship with food. I relearned to trust my body’s signals and made peace with food again. Combined with a health-oriented choice of nutrient-dense foods that help the body and mind thrive, I try to help people discover the benefits of the off-a-diet approach to nutrition.

Empowering women over 40

For women, midlife comes with challenges. As we enter our 40s and beyond we face hormonal shifts that bring physical and mental changes and make it even harder to maintain a balanced and positive relationship with food. Perimenopause and menopause can become really overwhelming periods in a woman’s life, especially with the added societal pressure of looking a certain way and fighting age.

Working with women at this stage in their lives and also experiencing the changes firsthand led me to this new path on my nutrition journey.

I help women over 40 reclaim their intuitive relationship with food and get back on friendly terms with their bodies. Through compassionate guidance on how to embrace mindfulness and intuitive eating, I support them in nourishing their body, trusting themselves with food, and embracing the changes that come with midlife – away from restrictive diets, guilt, shame and war with themselves.

 

My yoga journey

I started practicing yoga more than ten years ago. From the very beginning, I could feel that it made a difference not just in the way that my body was moving and functioning but also in the way I would think about and react to my life events. It also positively affected my relationship with food and my body.

During the pandemic, I would always turn to my yoga practice to find relief from difficult emotions and comfort. In 2022, I decided to dive deeper into the philosophy and practice of yoga and I am now an RYT 200 Yoga Teacher, certified by Yoga Alliance.

I now consider yoga and any other type of mindful physical exercise an integral part of holistic health. Like intuitive eating, yoga encourages self-compassion, mindfulness and a deeper understanding of our body and mind.

My digital footprint

I absolutely love the written word! I read anything expressed in writing. In the online world I write articles and content for social media posts. I am also into web design and copywriting, particularly for sites in the health, wellness and exercise industries.

I have had an internet presence for over a decade with various blogs on healthy eating and cooking. I decided to make this website because I needed an internet home from where I could inform people about the non-diet way to eat and live, and to help those who have had a rough time because of the diet culture.
